July Currently

It may be a little early, but I wanted to make sure I got my currently up before I started hard core into my Masters Program! Yes, that's right, I'm starting my Masters in Early Childhood Education this coming week! I'm SO excited that I get to continue with my education in a field that really drives my passion for education!

As is true for many teachers, this summer has been dedicated to spending time with my children, planning, and crafting! It's been GREAT, but I'm so ready to be back to the grind. For me this school year will consist of many new things...I can't wait to share all of my journey with you all!

If you want to follow all the other fabulous bloggers who are posting their own "Currently" for the month of July...follow Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade! She is a fabulous resource and has so many other amazing bloggers linking up with her on a regular basis!

Monsters...Oh My!

So, last year I had a classroom theme all revolving around my "Diamonds". It was really cute and I was able to incorporate a lot of color pops with diamonds, black and white as my primary pallet.

This year...with the help of some friends and the amazing PINTEREST...I have decided on a Monster theme! With Monsters University coming out this summer it all seemed to really jive and fall together nicely! I've been scouring the internet for the past week and have found so many amazing resources. My poor printer is going to hate me after this summer! I've done so much printing, I had to buy two new ink cartridges!

I'm not able to access my classroom until July to begin setting up, but I'll have all my materials printed, laminated, sorted, labeled and READY TO GO!
I cannot wait to share my pictures with you all!

If you're interested in achieving Monster greatness for your classroom I seriously recommend TPT and searching for "monsters". Search for the "free" items and you will Not Be Disappointed!

WBT...ready, set, go!

This summer I have dedicated to revamping my management style.

As a new teacher last year, I had some ideas of what I wanted to do as far as management, but they didn't pan out like I had hoped. Sure the kids liked the incentives I provided, but that about broke the bank and I want to make their rewards a little more intrinsic! (They'll get a little treat every so often, but it will be a choice for them, not the only option!)

In my research over the past couple weeks, I found WBT (Whole Brain Teaching). This system seems like a godsend and I'm so excited to begin implementation in August!
I plan to create an ongoing collaboration of posts on WBT and how it works in my classroom...complete with photos, ideas and tweaks. I'll also be posting a book review of sorts for the fabulous WBT book I'm reading by Chris Biffle..the Genius behind WBT!

As with any new management style a teacher adopts, there will be downfalls, there will be things that need revamping...i'll take you on my journey with this "loophole free" endeavor of mine. I will also continue to link up with resources I find and other fabulous bloggers who have helped encourage my new way of thinking!

I found an amazing FREE resource on TPT from the ever fabulous Gingersnaps that is going to provide me a phenomenal start to revamping my room to fit the WBT model!

Click the links to find the amazing resources available through Teachers Pay Teachers. Much of the things I find for my classroom are from there. I honestly don't know how teachers like me have the time to create such fabulous resources, but I'm sure glad they makes my life easier! :)
